The Coronado Concert Band was formed in 1997 by adult alumni of the Coronado High School band program and volunteer musicians from the Coronado community. Funded by the City of Coronado, the band's mission was to provide local civic events with musical entertainment. Frederick Lee was hired as Music Director in 1998. Since then, the CCB has grown into one of the finest wind bands in San Diego, with its more than fifty member musicians hailing from all four corners of the county. It is a true community ensemble in which professional and amateur musicians sit side by side and come together purely for the joy of making music together. The band performs 8-10 concerts per year, including two of the Spreckles Park Promenade Concerts, a benefit for the American Cancer Society and as part of the popular Twilight Concerts series in Balboa Park's beautiful Organ Pavilion.
